Hmm Don’t drag my name in the mud over APC N400m campaign fund – ex CP

Enugu—Retired Police Commissioner, Mr. Titus Okoro, who was chairman, Security Committee of Enugu chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last general elections, yesterday, warned against being used as a sacrificial lamb in the scandal over alleged misappropriation of N400 million sent from the party’s national headquarters to the state for campaign.
At a press conference in Enugu, Okoro shed light on what he actually received during the period he served as the chairman of the Security Committee of the party during the last general elections.
He denied receiving the sum of N25 million of the controversial N400 million campaign fund for security, adding that he merely got a paltry sum of N30,000 as transport fare.
He said: “I have made a representation to the national headquarters over this matter. I never received or was given any amount to disburse as claimed.
‘’I only got N30,000 from him (Ezea), which I used to obtain air ticket to Abuja, period. That is why there is need for full scale investigation.”
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of the party for Enugu-East senatorial zone, Chief Anike Nwoga, said he invited Okoro to publicly tell his story as the matter had got out of hand.
“Chief Okey Ezea, APC governorship candidate, purport- edly claimed he gave a retired Commissioner of Police, Okolo Titus, Chairman Security Comm- ittee, the sum of N25 million.
‘’Fortunately, the commissioner is here in person to authenticate that he did not receive N400 million. He has since sent his protest letter to the APC national headquarters, Abuja,’’ Nwoga said.
