Another Baby Factory Discovered In Enugu, 9 Pregnant Ladies Found

The Enugu State police command, yesterday, disclosed that it has discovered a baby factory located within Etiti Amankwo Ngwo, 9th Mile in Udi local government area of the state.
A statement made available by the command’s public relations officer, Ebere Amaraizu, in Enugu, said  operatives of the 9th Mile Division of  the command, through their robust intelligence network and patrols within the area and its environs discovered the baby factory.
Amaraizu stated that the baby factory, allegedly owned by one Ikechukwu Onoh from Etiti Amakwo Ngwo, was operated in the private house of the suspect.
He said that nine pregnant girls and women at various stages of pregnancy were seen at the scene. “The pregnant women and girls later gave their names as  Stella James from Ohaozara in Ebonyi state (19 years old); Eze Jennifer (19 years old) from Obukpa in Nsukka local government, Enugu State; Ugwu Christabel,  (17 years old) from Aku Igbo Etiti local government, Enugu State; Happiness Mbaonu (17 years old) of Nnewi, Anambra State; Ovunna Ifeoma (20 years old) from Ezza in Ebonyi State; Esther Nwankwo (21 years old) from Nkalagu Ebonyi State; Onyedika Agu (23 years old)  from Isuawa Awgu, Enugu State; Blessing James (23 years old) from Ohafia Abia State and Chibueze Ujunwa  (24 years old) from Nenwenta Aninri  local government area, Enugu State.
“They are helping the operatives in their investigations”, the statement said.
The operator of the factory claimed that he got a provisional approval in October 2007 from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Enugu State, to admit and shelter pregnant women in his hospital called ‘‘The Tex Hospital and Maternity Home,’’ located at 9th Mile Corner, Enugu and that the hospital is no longer functional hence, he is now running the home.
